One Monday I didn’t find him at his usual spot. The next day he was back again. Kinamusta ko siya? Asking if he got sick…he said that there was no delivery of fruits due to the storm that weekend. I remember thinking then how risky it was to be a fruit vendor. You literally live from day to day.

I haven’t seen him in the last two weeks probably because the rains have been bad so he hasn’t gotten any fruits to sell.

What happens now that he hasn’t been earning from fruits for the past two weeks? Does his wife work? Does he have other sources of income? Did he have savings or did he borrow money to tide him over?
